Two Men Face Charges In Connection With Heathrow Alleged Pepper Spray Incident
Formal charges have been brought against two men in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray resulted in harm at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and charges for deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.
The charges follow an probe of an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.
A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
The incident – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
