The relatives of teenagers missing after a tragic fire at a bar in a Swiss alpine town are facing an excruciating period of uncertainty for answers and appealing for any details about their loved ones via social media.
The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Confirmed images depict the ceiling igniting as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.
Authorities have warned that it could take an extended period to formally name the fatalities of the disaster, which killed numerous partygoers and wounded another 119. Officials stated on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with work ongoing to name the final individuals.
In the interim, families and friends have been posting on online platforms to appeal for any news about their loved ones who were present at the venue that evening.
Desperate Searches for the Missing
The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are currently unknown, according to an heartfelt request from his family.
The resident of a town near Lausanne, told a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.
