Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
